Taking advantage of kinetic energy, FREEcharge frees your gadgets from mains power
This green gadget transforms kinetic energy into electrical energy for mobile gadgets.
We are not aware that every day we waste energy by constantly moving. Unfortunately, this energy is not optimally re-utilized, at least lately. For Joe Mattley, a product designer, this kind of energy can be recovered to recharge the batteries of mobile phones and other mobile gadgets.
Named as the FREEcharge, this charger incorporates a magnetic system for clean electricity generation. This effective sliding magnet induces a 2500 turn copper coil (in a solenoid form) to produce the resultant electricity. The movement of the magnet in turn is governed by the motion of the whole contraption, thus kinetic energy being utilized in the process to be converted to electrical energy. During testing phase, the whole system was assayed numerous times to make the prototype as efficacious as possible.
The portability of the conception along with its non-requirement of any type of power outlet makes it apt for people on the move. According to the designer, his invention will cater to a particular segment of customers like hikers, adventurers and outdoor campers. Moreover, being completely regulated to zero carbon emission, the charger also makes its ‘green’ mark on the sustainable side of affairs.
